Are you ready to enjoy your day in the sun? Start by choosing the best sunscreen so you don’t have to worry about getting burned and the risk of skin cancer. Most of us do not realize the importance of sunscreen. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States and more than 2 million people are diagnosed annually. Therefore, it is important to prevent it. Lets start by using sunscreen! Here I will show you some products that will keep you glowy and protected.

Swimsuit season is here! Finding the right swimsuit that is designed for your figure can sometimes be a little intimidating. Today, I want to help you find the perfect swimwear that looks best for you. I have done some research to help flatter women with different body types: those with curvy shape, those with straighter shape, and those with petite shape.

For curvy shape, a one piece with ruched detailing is perfect to draw the focus away from areas you want to hide. Plus the color is very flattering. Victoria Secret ($58)

one piece

For a straight figure, you definitely have to find a top with bows or some kind of seaming around the torso to create a curvier look for more oomph up top. And the color blocked details like bows that sit on the hips add a feminine touch to straight frame. Asos (Top: $23.76) (Bottom: $20.36)

straight figure

For a petite shape was all dream for those longer, slender legs. Of course we cannot alter those genetics but we can definitely find a few tricks to create the illusion of longer legs. Wearing high waisted bottoms will definitely help pull that trick. JCrew (Top: $54) (Bottom: $50)

I saw a gorgeous glass bottle necklace at Forever21 and other small boutique stores in Houston several months ago. After seeing these charming necklaces, it approached to me that I can make my own. This will also be a great Mother’s Day gift or bridesmaid’s gift. You can actually put anything inside: from pearls, to glitter, to tiny beads, or roll up a little note.

-small glass bottles

-eye hooks

-jump rings

-necklace chain

-assorted things to put inside: pearls, glitter, beads, feathers, tiny messages, etc.

DSC_0412 DSC_0418

I got these little bottles from Michaels; it came in a pack of three’s which cost me under $4. If you cannot find it at your local craft store, you can also try Amazon. Alright, let’s get started. First you’ll want to screw an eye hook into the middle of the cork stopper. Second, fill up your bottle with whatever you like!  I chose pearls for one and the other one I added some of the micro beads that I purchased a long time ago for caviar nails with a message in a bottle. Then I used a jump ring to attach the bottle to the necklace chain. Measure how long you want the necklace to be and then add hooks at the end of the necklace to attach it together.

Since Mother’s day is right around the corner, I figured this would be a great personal gift for the moms. You can add personal messages inside for the moms to read or even print out a small picture of you and her together. The ideas are endless. Is there anything special you are getting your mother or maybe you as a mother requesting from your kids? Let me know in the comment section below.

Prior to yesterday’s post, I thought it would be appropriate to post about different prom hairstyles. Whether you curl it, leave it loose and wavy, half up or half down, there are endless styling possibilities for the special night.

For the vintage look – Julianne Hough retro look reminiscences Hollywood glam. It is the perfect hairstyle for a lace vintage dress. To create this style: Curl hair using a large curling iron and start halfway down the head. To get a big and strong spiral in front, use a round brush to twirl together the front pieces. Add some serum for the polish look.

For the whimsical look – Ashley Greene side updo hairstyle looks very simple but yet stunning. It is a perfect look for this magical dress. To create this style: the hair is smoothed to one side at the nape of the neck and secured with pins into a beautiful bun. Bangs can be swept to the side and pinned down. Pull out some hair on the sides to frame the face. Spray it with some hairspray to keep it in place.

For the romance look – Hilary Duff wore a chic, messy updo with a twisted bun and textured volume on top. The updo is blown back to draw more attention to the dress and the necklace. To create this style: thoroughly brush your hair to get rid of any tangled hair. Take the first section of hair and spray it with some hairspray. Hold the hair up straight and start teasing it. Lightly brush the un-teased section of the strand using only the tips of the brush and making sure not to touch or weigh down the teasing. Rub styling gel through the bottom half and pull it up into a bun at the back of your head. Pull out a few pieces of hair around your face for a wispy look, and mist your updo with a hairspray to keep it in place.

For the chic look – Lea Michele sexy down-do goes perfectly well with the chic look. The texture and the lengths add a glamorous and feminine feel that reminds you of the 1960s. To create this style: Apply some Volume Spray all the way through the damp hair to help thicken the hair and to give it body without weighing it down. Create a side parting and blow dry the hair in small sections to create volume at the roots and add smoothness to the lengths. Then apply serum to the hands and run fingers through the waves. Finally, twist the ends to add some definition to the style.

I have to say I never got to experience my own prom. It is definitely one thing that I do regret. It was not because I did not have a date; it was just because at the time I feel like it was not that important. And plus, I did not want to spend all that money. If only I can go back in time I will definitely attend my senior prom…

Anyways, enough about me, I know you have been waiting for this. Choosing the perfect dress for a special occasion such as prom can be very problematic. I want to show you some different dress ideas for proms, wedding events, or any formal affairs. It is all about the dress, so I am going to show you several different looks and I want to keep the accessories pretty simple so that it does not distract from the dress.

The first look, I call it the Romance. The beautiful flow of chiffon on this dress presents such an elegant and romantic look. The flowing chiffon adds such an otherworldly sense and yet flatters the curves. The items can be purchased at — Dress: Asos, Earrings: Neiman Marcus, Necklace: Jcrew, Heels: BCBG.

prom 2

The second look is the ‘Vintage’ look. Lace is another popular fabric for prom dresses this year. If you are aiming for that vintage and elegant look, this dress is the one. Pair it with some simple accessories. The items can be purchased at — Dress: BCBG, Earrings: Jcrew, Bracelet: Jcrew, Heels: BCBG.

prom 4

The third look is the ‘Chic’ look. This dress presents such a sweet and beautiful look. Again with the chiffon fabric for an elegant look and the sweetheart neckline for a feminine touch. The items can be purchased at — Dress: Asos, Heels: BCBG, Clutch: Asos, Earrings: BCBG.

prom 3

The last look is the ‘Whimsical’ look. In my opinion, this is by far the best look. I love them all but with the full layers of tulle; it gives it that magical and fairy look. The items can be purchased at — Dress: H&M, Clutch: Dailylook, Earrings: BCBG, Heels: Steve Madden.

I have an awesome do-it-yourself project for you today! I know it is that time of the year where there are so many events to attend: such as weddings, graduations, prom, and engagement parties that I felt like this is the perfect opportunity for me to show you how to create the inspired Alexander McQueen Clutch. I have seen many famous celebrities like Emma Stone, Kim Kardashian and Anne Hathaway spotted with the Alexander McQueen Clutch. And only if you saw the prices on these babies… It retails for a heartbreaking $1,000+. The great thing about this DIY is that it cost me under $20 and you can create it however you like.

What you will need:

Hard eyeglass case

A fancy cabinet knob

A power drill

Hot glue gun

Embellishments (like rhinestones, beads, studs, etc.)

Optional: Rings (I used the cabinet knob but you can also use rings too)

Easy step-by-step guide:

Pick a design you would like to do. Carefully glue on your studs a few at a time. I applied glue in several sections and then carefully using a tweezers to place the studs on.

Repeat for the back and the sides of the eyeglass case, until fully embellished. This literally took me over 3 hours. Make sure to let the glue dry and then clean any mess with some goo gone.

DSCN1083 DSCN1084

Then pick your spot to drill. My husband helped me with this part but if you plan to do it yourself, have a friend help you hold the case while you drill. Please be careful!

DSCN1091 DSCN1096

Insert your hardware into the hole you drilled. Simply screw in the hardware. If you prefer to use rings, place three rings side-by-side and glue them down.

It’s that easy! You now have an elegant clutch bag that will be center of attention at any party you attend. It is big enough to fit a lipstick, credit cards, mints, and your phone. Enjoy!

Top knuckle rings have been in trend for quite some time. Every woman knows that accessories complete the outfit. From Rihanna to Vanessa Hudgens, all these celebrities are rocking the knuckle ring. So, today I will like to show you how to make different types of top knuckle rings. I didn’t want to spend much, so I thought why buy one when I can make one. They are so simple to make! I will be making two different types of knuckle rings today: one will be a “Love” ring and the last one will be a chevron knuckle ring.

What you need:

Jewelry Wire (gold or silver)

Jewelry Pliers

Wire Cutter

photo 1

Love ring: I cut out about 7 inches of wire. Beginning with the letter “L”, leave about 3 inches on the left side. Then, using your pliers curve the right side of the wire up, bend it down to follow the curve of the “L”. You can use your pliers to adjust the look of “L”, if you needed. Then using the pliers, follow the curves of the “O”. Once you are through with that, create the “V” shape and use the round nose pliers to straighten out any unwanted kinks in the wire. Use the pliers to then create the curve of the “E”. Using the wire cutter, cut the excess after the small loop. Close the loop with the flat nose pliers. Lay the “Love” part of the ring on the front part of your finger, and wrap the excess wire around your finger.

photo 2

Chevron ring: Cut about 3 inches of wire. Fold it in half and use the pliers to press it together to create a point. Carefully open the wire and fold the wire around your finger. Press down in the front and fold the wire together at the back. Cut the wire shorter, if you need to. Now make more to stack together to create the chevron shape, and wear them on!

Hair is an important component to a woman’s beauty, and therefore I wanted to show you guys a few hairstyles that will look great for spring. Not only does your hairstyle structure your outfit but it also boost self-esteem. Here are some 2013 hair trends!

twisted braids

Braided Hairstyles: This is one of my favorite hairstyle to create for the warm season. Braids have become very popular in the last years and I believe it is here to stay. There are numerous styles of braids that will help you create a desire image. For a casual hairstyle wear a French braid. This is a perfect look for a picnic at the park. For an effortless chic hairstyle wear messy side braid; this look will be great for a beach party. For a more sophisticated hairstyle wear a braided ponytail.  Do not think that every braid has to be perfect; the idea of the messy braid will help frame your face and gives you that lovely look.

rock-n-roll waves

Soft-wave hairstyles: This is a quick and easy way to create an effortlessly look. The style works for both short and long hair. To create the soft-waves while hair is still wet work a generous amount of moose through the hair and scrunch it upside down. Another easy way to create the look is using a thick curling iron and run fingers through the hair for loose curls.

knot-tie updo

Topknot bun hairstyles: You can wear this hairstyle on many types of occasion like a wedding, a casual night out with friends, or a birthday event.  To get the hairstyle, pull your hair up into a high or a low pony, twist the strands around and secure the knot with bobby pins. And for a softer look, you can make it messy with flyaway to frame your face.

scarf hairstyles

Scarf-tied hairstyles: This is another hot trend for spring 2013. It gives you that retro look but yet fun and easy to create. This style is perfect for busy moms who are on the go or a day out shopping with the girls. There are different hairstyles you can create. One of my favorite is to tie a scarf up into a turban, or you can fold a scarf up and use it as a headband, and you can also work a scarf into a side braid. To keep the look modern, use a fun floral print scarf or trendy color such as emerald green.

Spring time is here! I hope you are enjoying the pretty weather. Besides the nice weather, the best part of spring is playing with different essentials to create an awesome spring outfit! Whether to have a picnic at the park, brunch with the family or spending spring break with the bestie; there are plenty of outfits to work with. Here are just a few I put together…

+Skirts are another perfect essential for spring. Any light colored or floral skirt will be great. Wear the skirt with a loose tank tucked in gives it a gorgeous look.

+Pastel or any colored sheer blouse. Pair it with jeans or tuck it in a skirt and you got yourself another lovely outfit.

+I love colored skinny jeans!!! It is actually perfect to wear for any occasion. Pair the colored jeans with a cute blouse and some simple flats will give you a chic look.

+Dresses are great for spring time. I have been obsessed with a lace dress. I feel like it is just the perfect touch for spring and also perfect for brunch with the family!

+Loose tanks always serve as one of the best basics to wear with shorts, jeans, or floral skirts.

+High Waist Shorts are perfect for spring. Comfortable but yet cute!

+Light sweaters are also another great essential for spring time. Although majority of the time the weather is beautiful but there are times when it can get a little chilly. Pairing a light sweater with shorts is just perfect for spring.

+Brown, black or color sandals will go with most of your spring outfits…

+The perfect pair of wedges in either brown or black will look good with a cute dress or any spring outfits I have listed here. You can never go wrong with wedges.

+Simple flats will be comfortable and look well with most outfits such as, dresses or with pastel jeans.

Happy Wednesday! I notice the last several outfit post was such a hit, I figured I will do another one. Plus spring is right around the corner so it only makes sense to do one. The floral prints find a romantic interest on spring again. This season you will still find floral prints sprouting everywhere. Do not get rid of your floral prints just yet. When it comes to looking chic this spring, floral prints are the way to go. From high-end designers to celebrities, floral prints are everywhere. Here are my prettiest picks. (Thanks to the hubby for cropping everything and photoshopping it for me to make this collage for you guys)

1. I forgot where I found this blouse at, sorry. 2. Asos, Floral Mini Dress – $67.82. 3. H&M, Floral Peplum – $12.99. 4., Floral Mini Skirt – $618.00 5. Nastygal, Painted Rose Leggings – $32.00. 6. Tilly’s, Floral Denim Cutoff Shorts – $24.99.

If you are like me, during the winter season my lips get very dry and sometimes it will start to crack. I end up buying many and many of lip balms which can be quite expensive. I came up with an idea to make them at home. After many researches and re-dos, I think these ingredients suite me best. I would like to share this with you all. Now it might work for me but not for everyone so at least try it and tell me what you think. If you discover something that I didn’t, please share.

Before I share the recipe, let me tell you some facts and beneficial of the lip balm. Shea butter lip balm is most commonly used to help heal and moisturize dry or cracking lips. In addition to preventing dryness, Shea butter lip balm may also be useful in protecting the delicate skin from the sun. Shea butter contains important antioxidants such as vitamins E and A, which help protect the lips from the free radical damage that can make them look prematurely aged or thin.

(Disclaimer: Please make sure you are not allergic to any of these ingredients before using it.)

2 tbsp. grated beeswax (Grate it with a dollar store cheese grater. You will never be able to use it for anything else after you grate beeswax on it.) 1/4 oz. organic raw Shea butter

2 tbsp. coconut oil 2 tsp. almond oil

chunk of any color lipstick

10 drops of essential oil

Melt all the ingredients but the essential oil in a double boiler until completely melted where there are no more beeswax flakes. Do not boil or overheat. Stir with a plastic utensil or a wooden lollipop stick. Remove from heat and add essential oil. Pour it into your lip balm containers. Let it sit at room temperature until hardened. Now package it up and give it as gifts or favors. Thank you for reading!

It is Rodeo season once again. Every year I yearn for this month to come. I was born and raised a Texan, so I look forward to the Rodeo every year. It actually became a tradition in our family. So I definitely had to share with you my yearly rodeo outfits. It does not matter what you do! Whether you are at the carnival, hanging on the bull-rides, wearing your cowboy hats, or eating those delicious funnel cakes; you have to kick it off in style without looking like you stepped out of an old western movie. Well I got the perfect Rodeo outfit for you and just in time for the Bar-B-Que cook off.

What is the Rodeo without denim shorts and some cowboy boots? If you seek for the Country Fair look, here is the perfect apparel for you. I wanted to keep this look comfortable yet still have a sweet touch to it. So I paired these ripped denim shorts with a cute top and of course… We cannot forget those cowboy boots. For the accessories, I just kept it simple with the Tory Burch leather wrap bracelet. Curl your hair for that wavy look, and you my friend, completed this Country Fair look. (Sorry about the misspelled of Cavenders at the bottom of this picture. I accidently double typed the V.)

For this outfit: I still wanted to keep a western look but with a lady-like twist, so I brought out this flowy-white dress. Since the weather here in Texas varies each week, I wanted to pair it with a denim jacket so just in case it gets a little chilly. And of course I still kept the cowboy boots. Now for the accessories, I just added some dangle earrings and a pair of sunglasses (just in case it gets a little sunny out during the day). Then, style your hair in a messy fishtail braid. Well, there you go… Now you got yourself a perfect Southern Belle look.

Bath bombs are such great way to relax. I have two kids and a full time job, so the only time I get to escape is when I am either showering or bathing. Not only is the bath bomb a great way to relax but there are many beneficial factors. Some of the benefits includes: softening of the water which makes your body feel silky smooth, the essential oil used have certain properties that help with ailments such as aching muscles, insomnia and fatigue, and moisturizing of the skin. It is such a great way to enhance your bathing experience.

I usually purchase my bath bombs from Lush which varies in price depending on the size. It can run to about $4-$6 a bomb.  My four year old daughter loves it as well. She is a girly girl, so anything that is pink and has flowers catches her eyes. So it can also be something fun for the little ones. Another great idea is wrapping it up and giving them as gifts or favors. The possibilities are endless fun…

8 oz. Baking Soda

4 oz. Citric Acid

4 oz. Corn Starch

4 oz. Epsom Salts

3/4 tsp. Water

2 tsp. Essential Oil

2.5 tsp. Almond Oil

A few drops of food coloring (any color you like)

Sugar Flower (the kind you use for decorating cakes)

Round, snap-together plastic ornaments

DSC_0539 DSC_0541

Place all the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Stir it altogether. Place wet ingredients in a small jar and mix. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir, using a whisk. Place sugar flower upside down or any other kinds of things you would like to put in the bath bomb (such as pop rocks candy, lavender buds, glitter, and so on) in one half of the ornaments. Pack mixture tightly into first half of the plastic ornament and then repeat with second half of ornament the press both halves together. If you find that the mixture is not packing well, place back into the bowl and add a little bit of water. Not too much water because a little goes a long way. Carefully release from mold. Place bath bombs on a towel to dry. Let dry for 1-2 days before wrapping. After it is completely dry, you can now place it in a plastic bag, tie it with a bow, and place it in gift baskets or in a bowl near your bath tub. Enjoy!

I wanted to keep the date night simple, so I just paired it with crystal stud earrings and black pumps. Now don’t forget your clutch bag. You want to make sure you have a spot for your phone, mints, lip stick, and powder for any touch ups. This complete date night look.

Who said Valentine’s Day is all about a man? You can spend it with a girlfriend; especially a person who’s been there with you through the many break-ups. So go ask a girlfriend out for drinks and mingle away. For this outfit I wanted to keep it fun and flirty, so I paired the peplum top with a statement necklace and a black skirt. Add a nude pair of heels and you got yourself a girl’s night out.

This outfit is for those who are keeping it casual this year for Valentine’s Day. Whether you are catching a movie or even staying in. I got the perfect outfit for you. For this outfit: I paired a white loose cotton shirt with pink jeans and nude flats. I wanted to add some accessories, so I just kept it simple by adding gold heart-shaped stud earrings. Now you got yourself a cute outfit and comfortable enough to get cozy with mystery man.

Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you this body and face scrub that I have been making since my high school years. You know those years when life revolves around clear skin. It’s definitely something fun to make and easy on the wallet. I believe it cost me somewhere from $20-$25 for everything. At the time it may seem a little pricey but you definitely can make a lot to last you several months. So overall you will be saving more money in the long run. And, the only reason why it’s expensive for me is because I used mainly organic items.

Before I start sharing the recipes, I just wanted to share with you some facts regarding exfoliation. At birth, our skin cells turnover every seven days. When new cells are born, it rises up to the surface of the skin, and the old cells die off. As our skin ages, the process tends to slow down and the layers build up. Too many layers can result to uneven texture, acne, and dullness of the skin. A way to prevent these conditions is to exfoliate daily. Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the body. One great method for exfoliation is a scrub. They are easy to make and yet helps improve skin tone and reduces acne.

Honey Sugar Face Scrub All you need is two ingredients to make this yummy scrub:

1 tsp. of organic honey

½ tsp. of organic cane sugar (you can either use raw or brown – both works well)

Blend all these ingredients in a bowl. Apply it on your face, scrub and then rinse thoroughly. Not only is this scrubbing a great method to exfoliate but the ingredients in the scrub are healthy and beneficial for your face. The honey and sugar helps eliminates fine lines and wrinkles and also leaves the skin smooth and supple.

The ingredients and tools you need for the face scrub.

This is how it looks like after mixing the honey and sugar together. Now you got yourself an awesome face scrub!

Now moving on to the body scrub…

Sugar Body Scrub All you need is four ingredients to make this scrub:

2 cups of organic cane sugar

1 cup organic extra virgin coconut oil

8 drops essential oil (any scent you prefer) 1 drop of food coloring (there’s no purpose to the color; it just makes it prettier. So if you’re using lavender oil, add a purple color or if you’re using spearmint oil, add a green color)

Place the sugar in a mixing bowl, add the oils but one drop at a time and then add the food coloring. Mix well and spoon them in a plastic jar. Decorate the jars with labels, and tie a pretty spoon or ribbon if given as favors. This is a great gift to give out during the holidays or even a nice favor for a bridal shower. The possibilities are endless fun…

The ingredients you will need to make the body scrub.

The final result! You can tie a ribbon around the jar, add a spoon if given as favors or print out labels and glue on the jar.
